About Abel

Abel has spent most of his life in Winnipeg’s Elmwood-East Kildonan neighbourhood, where he and his wife Trish have proudly raised their blended family of four children. Born in Mexico, Abel immigrated to Winnipeg as a child and grew up in Elmwood, including time in Manitoba Housing. Raised by a single mother, he learned early the values of hard work, resilience, and the importance of giving back.

Abel holds a Construction Management degree from Red River College and works as a project manager in Winnipeg’s construction industry, where he leads complex projects with a focus on quality and collaboration. His professional experience is matched by his deep commitment to community service.

As vice president and coach of the East Side Eagles Football Club, Abel mentors youth and fosters leadership, discipline, and teamwork. He is also an active volunteer in Elmwood-East Kildonan, contributing to local initiatives and supporting families across the neighbourhood.

Abel’s journey—from newcomer to community leader—reflects his dedication to building a stronger, more inclusive Elmwood for future generations.
