Meet Abel Gutierrez

Abel Gutierrez is a husband, father, football coach, project manager, community volunteer, and candidate for Elmwood–East Kildonan Councillor.

But before any title, Abel is someone who cares deeply about the people around him. He is a husband, a dad, a friend, a brother, an uncle, a brother-in-law, a coach, and a football fan. He understands that strong communities are built by families, neighbours, volunteers, local businesses, and people who show up when it matters.

Abel has deep roots in Elmwood–East Kildonan and knows the concerns residents are raising every day. Families want safer streets. Seniors want to feel secure in their homes and neighbourhoods. Drivers want roads and bridges fixed properly. Parents want better opportunities for their kids. Taxpayers want to know their money is being respected.

As a project manager, Abel understands budgets, timelines, accountability, and the importance of getting the basics right. He knows that promises are not enough, results matter. That same practical mindset is what he wants to bring to City Hall.

As a football coach and community volunteer, Abel has seen firsthand how important it is to invest in young people, support families, and build stronger neighbourhoods. He believes leadership starts with listening, showing up, and following through.

Abel is running because he wants to serve Elmwood–East Kildonan with common sense, hard work, and a strong focus on the issues that matter most: safer streets, better basics, and real value for tax dollars.
